Painting Like the Masters
Explore and learn painting in transparent watercolor by studying the French impressionists and early American illustrators. Students will learn the basics of painting in watercolor such as drawing and composition, mixing color and color theory, and how to successfully build a painting. Studying the masters, students will learn how to approach landscape painting and increase their understanding of art. Students will complete at least one painting.
Instruction will be by Mr. Goeff Butz, owner of Geoffrey Butz Art & Design Inc and Chesterton Academy’s very talented art teacher. Mr. Butz has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. Not only does he have experience teaching, ranging from young children to adults, but he is also an artist and freelance graphic and web designer with over 25 years of experience. He has worked with apostolates such as EWTN, St. Joseph Communications, Lighthouse Catholic Media Inc., Catholic Book Publishing Corp.
This class is open to students of all skill levels who are entering grades 8-12.
Location: Chesterton Academy of Milwaukee, 155 S. Executive Drive, Brookfield (inside Cardinal Stritch facility)
Cost: $150 per student, Includes all supplies.
